ABOUT Dibbs and The Detonators:Based in Glenside, PA, rockabilly party band Dibbs Preston and the Detonators has played all over the U.S., both as opening act for The Brian Setzer Orchestra and as club headliners. With a choice blend of rockabilly, classic country and out-and-out rockers, Dibbs and the Dets’ explosive style keeps the fans dancin’ and partyin’. Joining singer/guitarist Preston in the band are Marco Destino on drums, Ralph Miller on piano and Johnny Lingo on bass.
Born and raised in London, England, Stephen “Dibbs” Preston, beginning in the late 1970s, was a founding member and lead guitarist for neo-rockabilly band Levi and the Rockats, and then, throughout the 1980s, served as lead singer with the Rockats, with whom he toured nationally and internationally (including Europe and the Far East), both as headliners and opening for the likes of Kiss, the Pretenders, the Clash, David Bowie and Daryl Hall & John Oates. The band created quite a stir world-wide with their revved-up, but still pure, version of the early rockabilly sound. With the Rockats, Preston also appeared on such TV programs as The Midnight Special, American Bandstand and The Merv Griffin Show. During the ‘80s, the Rockats also recorded for the Island and RCA labels.
The Rockats still reunite periodically for shows and recordings (most recently for Lanark Records).
Dibbs’ original songs have been featured in major movie releases (with the Rockats, he appeared in Where the Boys Are ’84) and are available for download on all of the well-known download sites
About The Big Time:
Beginning in 2015, Cecilia Ferneborg sought to bring together some of her favorite musicians to create an experience for dancers meshing small group swing with big band sensibilities. So The Big Time was born and together the group has logged thousands of miles on the road bringing music to lindy and blues dancers across the United States. Members of The Big Time are some of the most sought after musicians in the dance scene and can be seen playing with bandleaders such as Michael Gamble, Joshua Fialkoff, and Jonathan Stout. Their debut album, “Anna Cecilia & The Big Time LIVE” (2016), was recorded in front of a live audience and perfectly captures the energy of being on the dance floor in front of the band. The Big Time brings excitement and sensuality through jazz standards, reimagined popular songs, blues arrangements, and original music causing an infectious atmosphere for dancing!
The Big Time has played for numerous dance events and Lindy and Blues exchanges, including CHEX (Charleston, SC), DCLX (Washington DC), Red Hot Blues & BBQ (Washington DC), and SwingAus (Lancaster, PA). As a side-person, Cecilia has played for dance exchanges in Atlanta, Philadelphia, Orlando, Huntsville, Boston and more. When she’s not on the road leading the Big Time, Cecilia also writes and performs pop, jazz, and folk music under her own name: Cecilia Ferneborg.
